At ARK Castledown Primary School, Art and Design Technology provides all pupils with a creative outlet fueled by curiosity.   Our progressive curriculum creates opportunities for self-expression and the development of emotional intelligence.

Children will leave Ark Castledown having explored a range of media and develop their skills in drawing, painting, collage, printing, sculpture, textiles, food technology, construction inc woodwork and simple circuitry work.  All children will have found a form of communication that they are passionate to explore further in KS3.

Art and design embody some of the highest forms of human creativity. A high-quality art and design education engages, inspires and challenges pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works. Children work in a range of different mediums creating a wide variety of two and three-dimensional projects.  In addition to the wide variety of skills they develop, pupils are encouraged to be reflective about the art work that they creating, recognising (and celebrating) success whilst also critically evaluating how they would improve their work.
