‘School is living, it is not a preparation for living.’ – Martin Haberman.
We believe fundamentally that "Today Matters". We react against the idea that school is too often a bit of a grind with the implication that one day it will pay off when you get qualifications. We believe that young people can produce work of real value and make a difference to their community and the world today. That philosophy of joy, respect, curiosity, kindness is at the heart of our culture.
Every year group participates in the Castledown Community Project, taking on a real-life problem pertaining to our local community. This approach incorporates a series of techniques that produce deep and authentic learning. Pupils immerse themselves in rich subject content and real-life problems. Through the application of knowledge and the development of skills pupils create work of real value and make a difference to their community.
