The Castledown history curriculum inspires pupil curiosity and fascination about Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Our high-quality history lessons support pupils to harness their critical thinking, weigh and evaluate evidence, form strong arguments and opinions, whilst also developing perspective and judgement. Pupils are keen to understand why events occurred and question why people interpret the past in different ways. At Castledown children gain historical knowledge and skills, not just through experiences in the classroom, but also with the use of fieldwork and educational visits.  The teaching of history at Castledown brings the subject to life, enabling children to explore like detectives and work like historians.
