Staying Safe Online
The internet is such an integral part of our lives, opening up many educational and social opportunities, giving us access to, quite literally, a world of information and experiences. Whether on a laptop at school, a games console or mobile phone, young people are increasingly accessing the internet whenever they can and wherever they are.
As you would protect your child in the real world, you will want to make sure that they are safe whatever they are doing. If your child understands the risks and can make sensible and informed choices online, they can get the most from the internet and stay safe whilst doing so.
E-Safety is an important part of keeping children safe at Ark Castledown Primary Academy. We have extensive measures in place to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. E-Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
Through the school curriculum, pupils learn:
- How to use the internet safely
- How to keep ourselves safe
- How to behave when using technology
- Encouraging a healthy use of technology
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with parents and carers to ensure the e-Safety message is consistent. As part of our partnership, we encourage parents/carers to speak to their children about risks and appropriate online behaviour.
