On Thursday we commemorated the 80th anniversary of VE Day with a day full of learning, remembrance, and celebration to honour the end of World War II in Europe in 1945. We begun with a whole school assembly, followed by visits to our library, which had been transformed into a mini museum, showcasing wartime memorabilia. On display were replicas of ration books, medals, uniforms, and letters from the front line. In the afternoon, everyone gathered together in the playground to take part in a 1940s-style street party, complete with classic wartime songs and delicious iced biscuits that the children had decorated earlier. What a very special and memorable day!
