Ark Castledown Ofsted Report

We are extremely proud to inform you that following our full Ofsted Inspection in November 2021 the overall judgement is that we are a GOOD school. With Leadership and management judged as OUTSTANDING.

The summary evaluation of the inspection is as follows:

Overall effectiveness : Good

Quality of Education : Good

Behaviour and attitudes: Good

Personal development : Good

Leadership and management : Outstanding

Early Years Provision : Good

The report is certainly worth a more thorough read as it is overwhelmingly positive and reflects the progress we have made as a school since becoming part of Ark in September 2017. The full report can be found here

We are particularly proud that the inspectors recognised that: our teaching of maths and reading has been seen as exceptional, Pupils with SEND are well supported and that positive relationships between staff and children sit at the heart of our school.

Leadership at all levels was judged as outstanding and this means we are in an excellent position to make further improvements as we move forward.

As a school, and with the support of the Trust, we will continue to work to improve in the area identified for further improvement.  It is our challenge to see that every element of our work reaches the highest possible levels. I know that we will have your continued support in the work we will be doing together to make Ark Castledown exceptional in all areas.

This is a fantastic achievement for everyone in our school community. I would particularly like to thank all our school staff who work hard every day to ensure the school is the best it can be, and of course our wonderful pupils who continue to work hard and amaze us on a daily basis.

Welcome from our Principal

Welcome to Ark Castledown. We are a community primary school that is dedicated to providing the very best education for the children of our town.

We hold a strong child-centred approach to teaching, where consistency, praise, encouragement and challenge are key. We believe that every child has a unique potential and we work hard to inspire and motivate children to achieve their goals.

We know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together, and that parents make an important contribution to children’s achievements at school. We are committed to developing excellent working relationships with our families and all members of our school community.

Please have a look at our website and if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact us.
